Well, I'm sure that a lot of people have different theories. I'm just going to tell you how I would start to read the Bible, if I had never read it before. If this doesn't work for you, please let me know, and I will research some other options. :)
If you need basic instructions on how to find scripture, I'll be adding that info soon. For now, I'm going to explain the order of things I would read.
First, the Bible has two main parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament. Each part has different content and a different purpose. Personally, I would start with the New Testament. However, feel free to read the description of both parts and choose whichever part interests you the most. I'm including a list of things that are good to start reading. It's NOT a to-do list. It's just a suggestion list. :)
