New Testament Reading Suggestions

Jesus' Whole Story can be found in the first four books of the New Testament - Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.  Each of the books are a biography of Jesus written by four of his friends:  Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.  (Easy enough, huh?)

I'm going to put some of the specific stories in the list.  You can find many of the stories about Jesus in all four of those books.  I'm going to list most of them out of the same book, so it's easy if you're flipping through your Bible.  Like I said, however,  you can find an account of most of these stories in all four of those books.  Each book was written by a close friend of Jesus.  Obviously, since they all traveled together, they saw the same things.  Then, they each wrote their own personal account of what happened.  Awesomely, the accounts are all so similar that it gives support the truth of the Bible.  (How often do four eye witnesses give almost the exact same account of the crime?  Not hardly ever.  More on this later, if you care.)

Jesus' Conception - Luke 1:26-38
Jesus' Birth - Matthew 1:18-25
Jesus Visits the Temple - Luke 2:41-52
Jesus Gets Baptized - Matthew 3:13-17

Jesus Performs Two of Many Miracles - Matthew 9:18-26
Jesus Tells One of Many Stories with a Lesson - The Story (Matthew 9:1-9)    The Meaning (Matthew 9:18-35)
Jesus Says The Greatest Commandment - Matthew 22:34-40

Jesus is Falsely Accused and Put on Trial - Matthew 26:1-5   Matthew 27:11-26
Jesus is Put to Death - Matthew 27:32-66
Jesus Comes Back from the Dead - Matthew 28:1-15

After you read about Jesus, there are some good places to start reading about how a follower of God is supposed to live.  This is NOT a list of rules.  It's more like a description of what pleases God.  Jesus died so we wouldn't have to be a slave to rules anymore.  He doesn't want us to put ourselves back under those bonds.  However, He knows what's best for us, and He wants us to live a good life.  There are certain things that are good for us and other things that are not.  These scriptures help give an idea of what we should work towards in our lives.  Obviously, this takes a lifetime.  We won't get it perfect overnight.  These are just some basics.  If you have ANY questions about these things, feel free to e-mail/contact me and ask.  :)

James is a great book to start reading.  It's simply stated and covers a lot of basics.  :)
